Election Day open thread - Did you vote today?

I just drove through campus on the way to work. There were about 100 students in line outside the Jesse Owens building waiting to get inside to wait in line some more. It was 7:25 in the morning.

I was NEVER up before 10 when I was in college. Wow.

About a 50 minute wait at the Greek Orthodox church in the short north.

After voting, walking for coffee and passing by the line again, it was much shorter.

Two hour wait at Bollinger Tower. I got there right before 6:30 too.

1 1/2 hour wait at the nursing home near Morse and Hamilton. I decided to leave work at 2 and hopefully the lines will be much shorter.

Took me longer to walk from 8th to King and back than it did to vote.

No issues, I went prepared with my ID and a copy of my lease and a gas bill. A voter just behind me didn’t take this precaution and probably had to head back to grab it.

About 20 minutes at our spot on Mt. Vernon near the King Arts Complex. Not too shabby. Maybe 12 people in line when we got there, but they were taking FOR-EV-ER.

1-hour at the Weinland Park Elementary. We arrived at 6:45am, and when we exited at 7:45, the line was even shorter.

There was about an hour and a half wait when I got to the Broad Street Methodist Church around 6:45 am, however, the line was virtually non-existent when I left.

On a side note, I was made to vote Provisionally because of an undisclosed issue. I was told it might have had to do with the fact that an absentee ballot may have been mailed out and unreturned. I was very frustrated as I then had to wait in a seperate line and vote for what may or may not count. I was told “it should”.

    Obama!!!

I stopped by the Glen Echo church on Calumet in Clintonville at 8AM - it looked to be about an hour wait. I’ll probably leave work early and vote this afternoon.

Your provisional ballot will count as long as they see that you didn’t already submit an absentee ballot.

I got to my location (The Church at Mill Run) at 6:15 and voted at 7. After a slight uproar over the fact that they were letting people who wanted to vote paper ballots cut in line, things went back to normal. Lines were still quite long when I left.

I believe you can get a small coffee (normal coffee…nothing fancy)

HUGE line @ Raymond Memorial Golf Course at 7:15.

Lines went out the door and all the way around the clubhouse (3-4 across).

Unbelievably, the process only took 1hr 15 min as the poll workers there were doing an incredible job.

Quick sweep of the parking lot saw 10-15 cars sporting Obama stickers and only one McCain “lipstick on a pig” douchy sticker.

I arrived at the church on Tompkins at about 6:20, was out by 7. Much better than the 5 hour wait I had to endure in 2004. There were 14 touchscreen machines in the place at Tompkins. In 2004 at Medary elementary, there were only 4.

    Free Starbucks

Free star-shaped donuts from Krispy Kreme

    $3 pizzas from Mama Mimis

I’m sure there are other election-day freebies going on too..

I’m planning on voting right after I get off work - around 3:30 or so.

Never had problems with lines in the past - in 2004 it was about 15 minutes. Not a bad wait at all.

The posts of people who “stopped by but will come back later” are a bit unnerving. I’d hate to see these people give up altogether if the lines get longer this afternoon. Early voting couldn’t have been easier for me. Everyone should try it next time.

Starbucks amended the offer to include everyone, not just voters. But I didn’t feel like waiting in line AGAIN.

We had about 1.5 hour wait at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Merion Village. Arrived at 7. The line was a bit shorter when we left, but still probably an hour. I just like voting on election day more. You get to see the people in the neighborhood.

We used to vote at Schiller Rec Center, and never had a wait there. We walked past on the way to work, and sure enough, just a very short line.

As I said on the other thread, my wait was relatively short and pleasant (we were keep each other awake until the polls open). This was at the Chambers Road Kroger, so Grandview area voters shouldn’t have a problem.

+1 I absolutely agree with you. For example:

Pablo wrote I stopped by the Glen Echo church on Calumet in Clintonville at 8AM - it looked to be about an hour wait. I’ll probably leave work early and vote this afternoon.

Let’s change that to, “I will leave work early and vote…”

Don’t worry, I’m definitely going back. I had a meeting at 9:00 so I didn’t want to be late.

What time are the polls open until? I believe 7 but if you’re in line at 7 they’ll let you vote.

At 6:30 this morning, the line wound outside of Thompson Rec back to Fifth Ave. It took a little over an hour to vote.

At 9am, we went past as I took Alec to school. There was no line that I could see.
