As of Wednesday morning, over 144,000 Franklin County residents voted, with 2% of residents casting absentee ballots.

In the Gubernatorial primary, Republican incumbent Mike DeWine won 48.13% of Ohio votes. Other Republican nominees in the field included Jim Renacci who won 28.02% of the vote, Joe Blystone with 21.77% and Ron Hood won 2.08% of the vote.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be nominated by Republican voters to serve Ohio,” stated DeWine via social media last night. “Jon Husted and I are going to keep fighting and winning for Ohio. Thank you!”

Democratic Governor nominees, former mayor of Dayton Nan Whaley and former mayor of Cincinnati John Cranley, went head to head. Whaley won 64.99% of Ohio votes, leaving Cranley with 35.01% of the vote.

“It’s time for something different,” stated Whaley via press release last night. “It’s time for a governor from the middle class, not a millionaire. A governor who is looking forward, not back. And it’s time to finally elect women to serve as Ohio’s governor and lieutenant governor and lead us into the future.”

For the U.S. Senate, Republican candidate J.D. Vance will go up against Democratic candidate Tim Ryan in the 2022 general election. The primary results showed Vance beating a large slate of challengers including Josh Mandel, while Ryan won out against Democratic competitor Morgan Harper.
