April brought some firsts to the Columbus dining scene, the return of a beloved name, and some long-anticipated openings. From cocktails to mocktails and milkshakes to donuts, find out what drinking and dining establishments Central Ohio gained in the month of April.
Destination Donuts
Destination Donuts made its much-anticipated comeback, finding a home for its giant, delicious donuts at its first standalone shop in Clintonville.
Ginger Rabbit
The Short North gained a jazz club in the form of Ginger Rabbit. The club from the owners of Chapman’s Eat Market focuses on cocktails (including a build-your-own martini bar), snacks (get to know the world of conservas) and live tunes (on the stage, every night).
The Yard Milkshake Bar
The Yard Milkshake Bar opened its first location in Ohio in the Short North, bringing with it massive, decked-out milkshakes, dozens of flavors of ice cream and edible cookie dough for a decadent treat.
Cafe Overlook
Run by non-profit Service!, Cafe Overlook took over the 16th floor of the Franklin County Courthouse Downtown, offering a workforce development program for its employees and a needed amenity for the building’s workers and visitors.
East Market
East Market has made the Trolley District a destination as the adaptive re-use project made its debut with a variety of vendors, including bars The Railhouse and Switch, along with grocery and prepared food from The Butcher & Grocer, retailer The Plant Gays and eats from American Nut Company, Creole 2 Geaux, Koso, Winston’s Coffee & Waffles, Yellow Brick Pizza and Taste of Greece & Moroccan Street Food. More vendors are soon to open.
The Dry Mill
Columbus’ first sober bar The Dry Mill opened Downtown, offering a scratch-made kitchen with traditional bar fare and a wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks, from creative mocktails, to NA beers and traditional sodas.
