$600 Million Expansion Planned for Riverside Hospital

OhioHealth plans to invest $600 million in its Riverside Methodist Hospital campus, building a 590,000-square foot Women’s Center that will hold the hospital’s maternity and neonatal intensive care, in addition to offering a long list of other services.

The new building will be constructed on the southeast corner of the campus, at the intersection of Olentangy River Road and North Broadway, where there is currently a large surface parking lot.

“Serving our patients at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital with the best care and most welcoming, convenient, and comfortable experience is important for every person who walks through the doors,” Riverside Methodist president Rob Cercek said in a press release. “Our hope with the expansion of women’s care is to inspire staff, providers, and the community as a beacon of health, hope, and healing for women.”

Nearly 7,000 babies were delivered at Riverside Methodist last year, according to OhioHealth, making it one of the busiest maternity hospitals in the state.

The addition will be home to both inpatient and outpatient care, adding a total of 185 inpatient beds to the campus. The building will hold a fourth trimester clinic and offer obstetric and gynecological services, as well as departments dedicated to mid-life and bone health, urogynecology and female urology, and mammography services.

The news comes on the heels of OhioHealth’s announcement last week of a $400 million expansion of Grant Medical Center in Downtown Columbus.
