AirTran: From Columbus to Atlanta to Cancun

It’s a year late, not nonstop and there are no $10 tickets. But for those who were waiting for Skybus to start flying to Cancun — which, of course, never happened before they went under — AirTran Airways at least has an alternate option.

AirTran, which launches service at Port Columbus on Nov. 6, has announced it will begin daily service from Atlanta to Cancun on Feb. 25. The flight leaves at 10 a.m. from Atlanta, meaning those seeking to connect from Columbus will have to leave here on the 6:15 a.m. to ATL. A quick check today indicated one-way fares start at $219 before taxes and fees.
