Film is one of the most often discussed forms of entertainment on the Columbus Underground messageboard, and all the buzz around The Dark Knight throughout the year made it the landslide winner in our Best Movie of 2008 survey.
The discussion around the movie started back in 2007 when the first trailers were revealed to the public. When news broke that Heath Ledger had died, the hype around the movie began to swell again. Expectations escalated during the months leading up to the film’s release and some were skeptical if Ledger’s Joker would live up to be the legendary final performance that everyone thought it should be.
When July 18th finally arrived, the reviews started to pour in almost unanimously positive. Even with some tough competition from Iron Man and Hancock, the new Batman managed to be the most solid of the summer blockbuster comic book action movies.
