    Not Chicken at Hot Chicken

    Hot Chicken Takeover is making Not Chicken a permanent fixture on its menu. After a two-day debut earlier this summer, the plant-based, house-made seitan is now available full-time on the HCT menu.

    Crispy and coated with HCT’s signature cayenne rub, Not Chicken is served two ways – as a traditional sandwich or open-face on two slices of bread with pickles on top. HCT has locations at the North Market, Easton and in Clintonville.

    Taquero at Short North Food Hall

    Short North Food Hall, 1112 N. High St., is down to one kitchen tenant. Taquero – Mad Street Food will take over the eats with a menu of customizable, “DIY Street Food” options including burritos, tacos, salads, quesadillas, nachos and tortas. Taquero will round out its menu with chips and salsa, guacamole or queso, street corn and tamales, with churros for dessert.

    Tacos are half off during happy hour; street tacos are $2 on Thursdays after 7 p.m.; and $2 Tuesday deals run every Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.

    Grandview’s Spagio Under New Ownership

    After 38 years, Gandview mainstay Spagio is under new ownership. Chef Hubert Seifert has sold the eatery and wine lounge to Wine|Dine Holdings and cityBRANDS, who own and operate various restaurant concepts throughout Central Ohio, including The Wine Bistro, NAPA kitchen + bar and Katzinger’s Delicatessen.

    Chef Hubert will remain on as an advisor to Spagio as Mike Waters, former executive chef at The Worthington Inn, takes the helm in the kitchen.

    Diners can expect an enhanced and expanded menu that will feature new items, as well as long-standing customer favorites. New menu items will debut weekly throughout the fall. The space will undergo a “rolling refresh” and remain open during renovations.

    Graeter’s Buckeye Blitz Ges a Makeover

    Two Ohio institutions are celebrating their 150th birthdays and there’s an ice cream pint to celebrate. Graeter’s Buckeye Blitz flavor will get an Ohio State-themed makeover to celebrate the occasion. Look for the Block O with scarlet, grey, and brown as an ode to the flavor’s chocolate chips. Buckeye Blitz features chocolate peanut butter ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough and Graeter’s signature dark chocolate chips.

    Tastings Adds a Patio

    Savor the last days of summer at Tastings’ new patio in Short North, 958 N. Hight St. The pour-your-own wine shop and restaurant opened its doors in May of 2017. The patio made its debut earlier this summer following streetscape improvements in the neighborhood. Tastings also hosts a daily happy hour from 4-6 p.m. with half off all food and select glasses of wine for $5.

    New Look, New Menu for 101 Beer Kitchen

    101 Beer Kitchen got a fall makeover. With the launch of its new seasonal menu on September 10, the bar and restaurant also debuted new branding, store interiors and website.

    101 Beer Kitchen operates three locations in Central Ohio, in Dublin, Gahanna and Westerville, and announced its expansion outside of the state to Indianapolis.

    Del Mar Expanding to Florida

    After opening its first location in the Short North in April 2019 at 711 N. High St., Cameron Mitchell Restaurants has announced the expansion of the new concept to Florida.

    Del Mar will open in Naples, FL in the fall of 2020, offering a similar menu to Short North, but with expanded seafood and wine options. Del Mar is the second Cameron Mitchell concept, in addition to Ocean Prime, to have locations outside of Central Ohio.

    Urban Meyer’s Pint House Opens at the End of the Month

    Just in time for the Nebraska game, Urban Meyer’s Pint House at Bridge Park, 6632 Longshore St., will open its doors on Friday, September 27.

    A partnership between Coach Meyer and Chris Corso of Corso Ventures, the 8,000 plus square foot restaurant and bar’s menu will feature Meyer-favorite dishes pulled from across Corso Ventures’ concepts, as well as Pint House signatures like skillet mac and cheese and pizzas.

    The location features two bars serving up more than 50 beer selections and a cocktail menu designed specifically for UMPH.

    Ideal for game day, UMPH features a large, 21-TV matrix. There’s also Coach Meyer’s personal project, the 7-0 Room, a rentable space for events and fundraisers which features trophies and memorabilia with seating for 50-60.

    Crimson Cup Takes Top Honors at World’s Largest Roasting Championship

    Local coffee roaster Crimson Cup took home nine medals during the 2019 Golden Bean North America, the world’s largest coffee roasting competition.

    Crimson Cup was named #1 Small Franchise/Chain Roaster. The company has previously also been named the #1 Macro Roaster by Roast Magazine in 2016.

    Individual coffees earned Crimson Cup eight additional awards at the Golden Bean. The company’s Wayfarer Blend, Ethiopian Kossa Kebena and Natural Gesha Oxapampa Peru coffees earned medals.
