Cameron Mitchell Opening The Pearl Gastropub in The Short North

There’s been much speculation over the past year as to what type of restaurant would eventually fill the former Burgundy Room space in The Short North. A teaser display appeared in the windows months ago that advertised a new Cameron Mitchell concept, but other details have been sparse until today.

The Pearl – Restaurant, Tavern & Oyster Room is the full name of the gastropub concept that will be opening at 641 North High Street this Fall. The menu is being described as chef-driven with a focus on local and organic comfort food, with inspiration coming from taverns, bistro and “roadside joints” all around the country. The menu will include fresh oysters, a charcuterie board, pub burgers, red snapper and duroc pork. Meats will be ground in-house and the bar will feature unique craft beers and fresh bar cocktails.

The design of the space is being described as a contemporary tavern and raw bar. Exposed white bricks and hardwood floors will be visible to High Street traffic through windows that open up to the sidewalk, similar to Marcella’s located just down the street.

The Pearl is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.
