At the start of the week, several of the restaurant group’s locations were open for curbside pickup during limited hours. That list of restaurants is down to the three area Cap City locations (Grandview, Dublin, Gahanna), which after today, will close as well.

As of Friday, March 20, CMR will temporarily cease all operations. CMR’s sister company, the Rusty Bucket will also serve eats for one last day before closing. Rusty Bucket restaruants in Dublin, Worthington, New Albany, Westerville and Bexley will stop serving at 8 p.m.

The closures leave some 5,800 associates across the two restaurant groups without jobs. To help employees through the pandemic, starting today, Thursday, March 19 through Tuesday, March 31, 100% of online gift card sales to Cameron Mitchell Restaurants and the Rusty Bucket will be donated to Associate Relief Funds for each group.

“The vast majority of our associates, approximately 4,500 people, now have been furloughed, and we fervently hope they will return to CMR when this crisis is over,” a statement from CMR said. “Our incredible associates are our CMR family, and we are heartbroken. With them, we’ve celebrated new lives and mourned losses, we’ve laughed and cried, and we’ve worked together to serve our guests and support each other. We are committed to helping them through this unprecedented time.”

The order to close restaurants and bars to dine-in customers has also impacted some 1,300 Rusty Bucket employees.

The leadership teams of CMR and Rusty Bucket will also donate their associate relief funds. The funds will be divided evenly among the restaurant groups’ employees with checks to go out in April.

“We could not be more grateful for the support of our guests and communities during this challenging time,” a statement from Rusty Bucket reads. “We look forward to when we can begin to restore our business, bring our associates back, and welcome our guests back into the restaurants.”

Both traditional gift cards and e-gift cards are available.
