After last year’s sell-out of two takes of the fashion show, CCAD has decided to move to a larger venue for the 2023 Fashion Show.
The Columbus College of Art & Design will welcome the fashion collections of eleven students to the catwalk on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
“We’re thrilled to take the CCAD Fashion Show to KEMBA Live! to allow for more student opportunities and cross-department collaboration,” said Suzanne Cotton, Chair of Fashion Design at CCAD.
Guests to this year’s fashion show will enjoy a multi-sensorial experience. The move to a larger space allows for room to include installations showcasing the work of students in other departments.
“The venue provides a larger platform for our Fashion Design students to showcase their work, while also allowing space for installation work from our Master of Professional Studies in Retail Design and Interior Architecture & Design program,” said Cotton.
“The CCAD Fashion Show is a moment for the Columbus community to see the incredibly creative emerging artists and designers right here in our city”

This year’s attendees can expect to see pieces that challenge gender norms, celebrate self-expression, are designed with accessibility for all individuals, and focus on sustainable practices.
All students who applied to be in this year’s fashion show were accepted and some have been creating fashion for much of their life.
For Kamaria Ellis, sewing has been a part of her life from an early age.
“Growing up, my grandmother put me in front of a sewing machine, and from that day I haven’t given it up,” she said. “I feel my true self when I create and everything comes together.”
The eleven emerging fashion designers that will showcase work in the 2023 CCAD Fashion Show are:
Collin Briggs with his collection Dreamhouse
Hyde Ebright with his collection MDRN HKR
Kamaria Ellis with her collection Address Unknown
Daniel Grimm with their collection An Overview on Phenomenal Nature
“My collection is about my feelings on gender, having more masculine figures wearing traditionally masculine garments with feminine twists,” said Grimm.
Casey Immel-Brown with his collection Rapture of the Skin
Junea Howard with her collection House of NaVera
Chenxu Liu with his collection Wild Skin
Yuran Peng with her collection Wear to my Funeral
Ali Rielly with her collection Impossible Gifts
Nic Specht with his collection HOLLOW
Jiaqi Yu with her collection Distant Galaxy
Yu created her collection Distant Galaxy using mostly black denim, silver-patterned woven fabric, and temperature-responsive faux leather, is inspired by long-distance relationships, the effort people put into maintaining connections with each other, and the bonds of love among people.
“I hope that those who see my work experience the way in which fashion is not only externally beautiful, but can be a way of sharing inner thoughts,” she said.
