More than 20 Dublin-based healthcare companies will be participating in an upcoming hiring event focused on the healthcare and biosciences sectors. The virtual job lobby will open Monday, July 25 and close Friday, July 29.
“Recruitment and staffing are issues facing many businesses and we wanted to explore this opportunity to support our Dublin-based business contacts,” says Jenna Goehring, Economic Development Administrator for the City of Dublin.
The department turned to Chatstrike, an online platform that founder Cameron Levy says has solved ‘the “black hole abyss” problem’ for job applicants.
What is the black hole abyss problem?
“[It’s when] candidates apply for jobs and never hear back,” says Levy. “It’s as if their application goes into a ‘black hole’ for weeks. And when they do hear back, it’s often just a blanket rejection without any feedback.”

Levy agrees. When considering where to base his business, he had visited Columbus and was impressed by the supportive community he found here overall.
‘I was blown away by the ecosystem here,” he says. He feels the City of Dublin goes above and beyond to support their employers to create an amazing community and decided it was the best place for him to launch and grow his business. “They’re very pro-business and their hosting of this hiring event for Dublin-located companies is testament to that.”
Levy was inspired to build Chatstrike when he noticed the rise in popularity of Slack, Microsoft Teams, and the use of messaging in professional settings.
“Messaging creates a unique opportunity for recruiters to conduct Personal Screening at Scale,” he says. “And I was inspired to build Chatstrike to make it efficient for recruiters to solve the black hole problem and create a great candidate experience.” He also really enjoys helping people make connections.
Chatstrike provides an asynchronous process for job application and screening interviews that is more personal than a job fair. Candidates who participate in a hiring event by Chatstrike receive actual feedback from the companies they are interested in.
“Hiring Events on Chatstrike allow recruiters and hiring managers to efficiently screen candidates and answer their questions to make sure it’s a fit for the candidate,” says Levy. Essentially, employers treat it like the first round of the interview. “After the chat, the candidate is advanced to the second step of the interview process.”

The Job Lobby for the City of Dublin Biosciences/Healthcare Hiring Event will be open Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29.
