National Companies Give Orange Barrel Competition

For the past few years, there’s really only been one name associated with massive attention-getting billboards downtown: Orange Barrel Media. Love them or hate them, the massive downtown advertisements have been a hot topic since Columbus-native Pete Scantland founded Orange Barrel six years ago. The Nationwide Paint Spill, the Columbus Crew Soccer Ball, the Columbus Alive iPod, and the electronic display at Broad and High are all Orange Barrel creations. But lately, media conglomerates like Clear Channel and CBS Outdoor Media have been upping their ante. Two new 3D billboards advertising Red Gold Tomatoes and Wheeling Island Casino have just gone up along Spring Street downtown. Could we be seeing more billboard competition in the near future?
