Representatives with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) are projecting that this year’s summer traveller count will surpass the record-high year set in 2019, officially returning to pre-pandemic levels.

“Air travel remains in high demand as we anticipate one of our busiest summers yet,” said Joseph R. Nardone, President & CEO of CRAA. “Whether they’re departing for a familiar favorite or somewhere new, we look forward to welcoming passengers as they escape to one of the many destinations offered from our airports.”

In 2019, a combined 996,000 travelers departed Columbus from either the John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) or the Rickenbacker Passenger Terminal (LCK) between June 1 and July 31. This year, that number is expected to surpass one million during the same two month window.

Local travelers have several new and returning options for direct destinations this year, including Orange County, Raleigh-Durham and others.
