Leaders of 11 central Ohio cities and villages signed a regional agreement yesterday pledging to recycle more, pollute less and make their government operations more environmentally friendly.

The “green pact” includes 10 broad goals for communities but no solid targets.

It was signed by Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman and leaders of 10 suburbs: Bexley, Dublin, Gahanna, Grandview Heights, Grove City, Hilliard, New Albany, Powell, Upper Arlington and Worthington.

Several leaders, including Coleman, said their cities already meet most of the agreement’s goals.
