Columbus City Schools announced yesterday that applications are being accepted to fill the Columbus Board of Education vacancy left in the wake of the resignation of Mary Jo Hudson on Dec. 6.

CBE bylaws require a public application process to seek candidates when a vacancy occurs. Any resident of the Columbus City School District who is 18 years of age or older, registered to vote, and who wishes to be considered for an appointment to the vacant Board seat, can apply by submitting a notice of interest to the Treasurer of Columbus City Schools, in writing, accompanied by a résumé and any other supporting documentation that would be helpful to the Board in their review, according to a press release posted by CCS.

Materials are due by noon on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Individuals interested in the current vacancy who submitted timely applications for the two previous CBE vacancies that were announced in September and November of this year, do not need to resubmit their application materials. They are required, however, to inform the Treasurer of CCS of their interest in being considered.

More information about the Columbus Board of Education and its activities can be found on the Columbus City Schools website.
