On hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic since mid-March, the Columbus Crew SC will be back on the field starting next month.
All 26 Major League Soccer teams will compete in the MLS is Back Tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida starting July 8 through August 11.
The tournament will be played without fans in attendance. For those hoping to watch the matches, national television partner networks for the tournament will be announced soon.
Each team will play three group stage matches between July 8-24, with those results will counting in the 2020 MLS regular season standings. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-place finishers, will move on to the knockout stage, which includes a Round-of-16 July 25-28, Quarterfinals July 30 – August 1, Semifinals August 5-6, and the Championship match on August 11.
Post-tournament, MLS plans to continue the regular season with a revised schedule, followed by the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and the 25th MLS Cup. The schedule is TBA, with the final number of matches to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Columbus Crew SC played two regular season games before play was temporarily suspended. The club stands at 1-0-1 and is fifth in the Eastern Conference.
Work continues on the new Crew Stadium Downtown, which is expected to be completed in July 2021.
