    Columbus Mega Weekend – Winter 2012 – Vol. 10

    Happy Weekend everyone! We have a special birthday to celebrate – our dear City of Columbus is 200 years old on Tuesday and there are a lot of great celebrations planned all weekend long. If you LOVE cake, this is the weekend for you!

    Tonight, we’d love to see you at our Meetup at Hubbard Bar & Grille. The party starts at 6pm and there will be complimentary appetizers, $10 gift cards and drink specials! Make sure to stop in the Valentine’s Day Bliss Bash at Erika Taylor Urban Spa tonight. The Rubenstein Kiss continues this weekend.

    Friday night is the big fundraiser party for Columbus’ birthday – 200Columbus, The Bicentennial Birthday – A Celebration of the Centuries at the Convention Center. The Wexner Center has brought back the Field & Screen series and there are movies and events Friday night and Saturday. Gallery831 has an opening reception for Mind Trip Friday night. The Salty Caramels have their CD Release Party Friday night at Woodland’s Tavern. Come to The DewDroppers Sweetheart Dance with special guests Way Yes at 400 West Rich Friday night. It’s the second Friday, so Brothers Drake is having a party. The Columbus Symphony presents Magnificent Mahler Friday and Saturday. Aaron Austen is at Fresh Fridays at Long Street Friday night. ShadowboxLive has Body Language Friday and Saturday.

    Continue the birthday party on Saturday at all 21 branches of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. They will all have cake and an event at 3pm. 200Columbus Days kick off on Saturday and last through the 15th. Join Yay Bikes! for their 2nd Year of Yay Bike Ride. Come to the Artists inFORMAL on Saturday evening at the Cultural Arts Center. Celebrate Burt Reynolds’ birthday at the Gateway Film Center’s Burt Day Party. Igloo Letterpress and Sassafrass Bakery are partnering for the Letter Perfect Love Fest Saturday evening. The Ohio Roller Girls have their season opener Saturday. The artist reception for “A Scape” is on Saturday at CS Gallery. Stupid Cupid, the ALT-Valentine’s Day Party is at Feverhead on Saturday. The Winter Hike for Saturday is at Highbanks. What the Rock?! is having a Trunk Show on Saturday and Sunday.

    Join Studio 35 on Sunday for Beer Tasting and a Movie with Rushmore. Nick Carter performs at the LC. The Riffe Center is hosting a free family workshop in conjunction with 100 Years of Art on Sunday. If you wanted to view Caravaggio: Behold the Man at the Columbus Museum of Art, Sunday is the final day for the exhibit. There’s another Winter Hike at Glacier Ridge. Jazz Moves Columbus continues through Sunday. Join Slow Foods Columbus on Sunday for their first Conviviality Cin-Cin Meetup at Luck Bros’ Coffee House, where the subject will be Arabica. CityMusic presents Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas at Via Vecchia Winery on Sunday.

    On Tuesday, enjoy the premiere of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhoods: Downtown and Franklinton at noon at the Ohio Theatre. Check out our roundup of Valentine’s Day restaurant specials. See Shaun of the Dead for Valentine’s Day at the Gateway Film Center. Please also join us for the unveiling of the Columbus Historical Society’s new space at COSI during Columbus’ 200th Birthday Party. We will be announcing the winner of the Arch Award, there will be cake, and there will be a viewing of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhoods Downtown documentary.
