Stonewall Columbus has announced the Columbus Pride Parade and Festival will be rescheduled for October 3, 2020.
The announcement comes after other major summer events, including the Columbus Arts Festival and ComFest, announced their events would be canceled or possibly rescheduled.
In a letter sent out by Stonewall Columbus Executive Director AJ Casey, she explained the decision was made after convening with government officials:
This date was established after lengthy discussions with local and state officials to determine a day that allows us to provide a safe Pride experience for everyone and ensure that the various city agencies and organizers are able to provide the services and support necessary to host a large-scale event.
For Columbus residents wondering what will be left of their summer, Stonewall is considering hosting events throughout the month of June, which is national LGBTQIA Pride Month.
We will continue working with local and state officials over the coming weeks and months to evaluate our options for hosting a series of events, whether virtual or in person. We also continue to evaluate all options for hosting other Pride events including the Trans Pride March, Festival, Brunch, Poker Run and Ride for Pride in the fall.
