SustainLane.com has come out with it’s annual rankings of sustainability in America’s 50 largest cities. Columbus finished an embarrassing 50th (dead last) in 2006, but is now up to 30th, earning praise for the Bicentennial Bikeways Master Plan.

Columbus scored pretty well in street congestion (14th), but not as well in transit ridership (39th) or city commuting (35th). Other areas that could use improvement include Planning and Land Use (38th), Tap Water Quality (41st), Solid Waste Diversion (34th), and Green Building (34th). I’m not sure how they decided Columbus was the 39th worst for natural disasters. Are there really that many tornados?
