After two years years of virtual events, Community Festival returns to Goodale Park this summer just in time to celebrate 50 years of live music and community gathering.
Launched in 1972, the social activism event has grown into one of the largest summer festivals in Columbus. The three day event includes live local music spread across multiple stages, food vendors, workshops, speakers and presentations, information booths and some of the best “people watching” in the city.
ComFest originally launched in the University District before migrating to the Short North where it has long called Goodale Park home. In addition to the three day extravaganza, ComFest supports social causes year-round through grant distributions to individuals, projects and nonprofit organizations.
We think that people ought to work for the collective good of all people rather than for personal gain. We support cooperation and collective activity rather than competition and individual profit. We recognize that there are primary attitudes which divide and oppress people. These attitudes are usually shown by prejudice against people on the basis of age, class, ability, income, race, sex and sexual preference/orientation. We seek to eliminate these attitudes.
– ComFest Statement of Principles
ComFest will take place on June 25, 26 and 27 in 2022, and is free to attend.
