Sporting a motto of “eat, play, pour and drink,” the concept was a rebranded idea from the owners of World of Beer that previously occupied the space at 1568 N. High St. Making the switch in August of 2018, Co-Owner Darren Greene said that District PourHouse would be “more approachable for the college student in terms of budget and offerings, but will also be a place that draws millennials, alumni and baby boomers.”

A little over a year later, the concept hasn’t gained the intended traction.

“DPH continues to be one of my favorite places to have a beer, especially on game days and when the weather is nice the patio is one of best in columbus,” says Co-Owner Mark Pottschmidt. “As much as we enjoyed working with campus partners, a combination of things contributed to our decision to move in this direction, but ultimately we just didn’t seem to resonate with student population.”

Christina Moffa, property manager at the Gateway, says their team is working with prospective new tenant(s) to add to the district. Campus-area Mexican joint Cazuela’s recently opened its second location at the Gateway at 1542 N. High St., with Yong Kang Street and Game Arena to follow in 2020.
