Emmett’s Adding Second Location at Open Air Building

Roughly one year after making its debut in the Brewery District, Emmett’s Cafe will open its second location this fall.

The cafe will head north, joining the lineup at the Open Air, 2571 Neil Ave. Emmett’s will be accompanied by a new concept from Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, Understory, and The Butcher Shop Fitness, which has already opened its doors.

Serving up breakfast, brunch and lunch to Understory’s dinner and cocktail focus, Open Air will offer all-day dining options with the addition of Emmett’s.

The eatery will serve popular favorites from the Brewery District location, including the Breakfast Burrito, One Handed, Salmon Bowl, Chia Rose Parfait and The Emmything, but add more lunch options along with smoothies and juices.

“The history of this building, its architectural detail, and the location along the Olentangy Trail made this space extremely attractive,” says Emmett’s Co-Owner Ben Kelley. “It also helps having Wolf’s Ridge and The Butcher  Shop as neighbors. Two awesome businesses, but even better people. I look forward to collaborating  with Bob and Phoebe and creating something special for Columbus.”

Emmett’s Open Air will seat 49 inside, and include an outdoor patio with unique features like a walk-up ordering window for guests who may be coming and going from the trail.

“We put a lot of thought into designing the experience on South High,” Kelley says, adding that every detail from the minimalist design to the eclectic menu was created with the customer experience in mind. “We expect to bring that same attention to detail, but give the Open Air location a bit of its own personality.”

Opening its first location in October 2020 near the height of the pandemic, Kelley says Emmett’s has been blown away by the community support that is now allowing them to expand to another location.

“We wanted to bring a fresh experience to Columbus and the neighborhood has embraced our cafe since opening day,” he says.

Emmett’s was voted as one of the Top 10 Best New Restaurants of 2020 by CU readers.

Emmett’s plans to open at Open Air in Old North this fall. Currently the Brewery District restaurant is open from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily.
