Crawley replaces interim Commissioner Dawn Tyler Lee, who briefly served following the resignation of Commissioner Marilyn Brown. Crawley will serve the remainder of Brown’s original term through 2022.

Several local leaders vied for the commissioner seat, including Columbus City Council President Pro Tem Elizabeth Brown, whom Crawley beat out in a 63-54 vote by the Franklin County Democratic Party Central Committee.

“I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to serve the community I love in a new way and to be able to continue helping my neighbors navigate their way out of the pandemic and succeed going forward,” Commissioner Crawley said. “It’s an honor that I take very seriously, and I am proud to be starting a new chapter in my life and making history in our county.”
