Kathy Ludlam: Flowers and Food

Central Ohio artist Kathy Ludlam makes her debut at Kittie’s Highline Art Space in Worthington with her new exhibit, “Flowers and Food,” showing March 2–April 30, 2023.

Using flowers and food as primary subject matter, Ludlam’s oil paintings are serene and contemplative.  With a background in art history, she applies her mastery of the still life by finding beauty in the everyday things that surround us.

“Art has been an important part of my life,” Ludlam explains, “even during periods when I was not actively painting. My life experiences are reflected in some fundamental way in how and what I choose to paint, from studying art history to living abroad to observing the daily changes in my favorite neighborhood walks. I enjoy painting plein air (outdoors) as well as in my studio, where I paint from life or use photo references. I particularly like the subtle nuances in shadows as well as the strong contrast of light and shade.”

“As the new owners of Kittie’s Highline, we are happy to welcome Kathy to the Art Space and continue the tradition of providing delicious coffee and fine art in our shop. We are excited to add our freshly made pastries to the mix and meet the Worthington community,” says Steve and Diane Herman, who own two other Kittie’s Cakes locations in central Ohio.
