Experience Clintonville Effort to Further Promote Neighborhood

A movement is afoot in Clintonville, and the idea is simple: That Clintonville is a vibrant neighborhood to live, work and play in.

The concept is called “Experience Clintonville”, which is not unlike it’s larger counterpart, Experience Columbus — the region’s official convention and visitors bureau. Both are organizations that promote places and activities for visitors and residents to take part in, but the new Clintonville effort is currently much more of a grassroots project.

The idea was created by Clintonville resident Anand Saha, who also owns Mozart’s Cafe and Vienna Ice Cafe, but was quickly given support by several other Clintonville residents and business owners. Long time resident Michele Mooney and Attaché CEO Jason Janoski are two other local leaders who have taken on the task of recruiting additional members and building out an online marketing campaign.

“I sometimes feel that Clintonville gets forgotten as a destination,” explained Saha. “Experience Columbus already does a fine job marketing the city as a whole, but Columbus is a pretty big city. Perhaps there is a need to engage Clintonville business owners and residents to help extend the message on what there is to experience in our own neighborhood.”

A quick search of the Experience Columbus website for the keyword “Clintonville” reveals 15 restaurants and 8 shops. A similar search on Yelp finds 63 restaurants and 22 stores.

“Right now, the focus is to grow the support on a grassroots level and to build on online community that supports many of the other great efforts around town and in Clintonville,” said Saha.

Experience Clintonville will be kicking off their new campaign with a launch party on Thursday, October 20th from 5pm to 7pm at the Olentangy Village Apartments.

“It is great that Clintonville wants to engage visitors and Central Ohio residents more to tell their unique story as it fits into Columbus’ overall destination appeal,” said Scott Peacock, Public Relations Manager at Experience Columbus. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and therefore we are proud that Clintonville has taken up the movement and have been very supportive of it.”
