Explore Columbus: Greater Columbus Antique Mall

The smell of nostalgia. The comfort of yesteryear. I recently experienced all of that and more when exploring the catacombs of the Greater Columbus Antique Mall located at 1045 S. High Street. Some say that the building is haunted due to a former life as a funeral parlor. The building has also served as an Elks Lodge and the grounds even housed a Sister’s Chicken restaurant at one point in time.

Although its treasures date from many years before, the antique mall has been a Columbus fixture for the past 30 years. Entering the old home is like walking into a taping of the antiques roadshow; the proprietor allows his friends and colleges to showcase their latest finds, pulled from dusty basements and traded at flea markets. From a legal rhino’s foot doorstop to a 1972 Arby’s collectible glassware set, there is something for everyone here. The real appeal is simply being able to hunt through the various rooms piled high with treasures.

I urge you to take the time to explore the haunts of this great city of ours. Read on for more photos…

The Greater Columbus Antique Mall can be found at 1045 S. High Street, just south of Downtown. Their phone number is 614-443-7858, and they are open from noon to 6pm daily.
