Cafe Overlook is officially up and running on the 16th floor of the Franklin County Courthouse, 373 S. High St.
The workforce development arm of non-profit Service!, Cafe Overlook will employ about 25 individuals with the goal of helping employees develop valuable and wide-ranging skill sets they can parlay into other opportunities in the industry. With support and funding from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Service! Co-Founder Letha Pugh hopes the social enterprise can be an example of innovation between the public and private sector.
The cafe will provide a much-needed amenity to the building’s workers and visitors, offering coffee and espresso drinks featuring beans from local roasters, a salad bar and grill serving up breakfast and lunch dishes. Breakfast eats include breakfast sandwiches and a breakfast burrito, along with a scramble, grit bowl and multigrain pancakes. Cafe Overlook’s lunch menu offers a variety of burgers and sandwiches, in addition to a couple of vegan items like tofu shawarma and a grain bowl.
The remaining kitchen space in the cafeteria will be host to Cafe Overlook’s incubation program which will launch in phase two of the project in the next six to 12 months.
Cafe Overlook is open weekdays for breakfast from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
