    First Look: S’wich Social

The premise is pretty simple: choose cookies, choose ice cream, choose toppings and devour. But the flavors are anything but.

Build-your-own ice cream sandwich shop S’wich Social is set to make its Italian Village debut on St. Patrick’s Day – Wednesday, March 17. (There may not be green beer, but there is green ice cream!)

Friends and Co-Owners Sean Whited and Addison Brown are scooping ice cream from the Chocolate Shoppe in Madison, WI and smashing it between massive, house-made cookies baked fresh daily.

That’s the S’wich – two cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Guests can also enjoy their sugar fix in Sundae form – one cookie, one scoop, or Split form (split as in share with another person(s)) – three scoops, three cookies. Those interested in just one or the other can also order one or two scoops of ice cream, or cookies in increments of one, six or 12.

“We also do a build-your-own S’wich kit, so it’s four cookies with a pint of ice cream and two toppings in a package,” Whited says.

Narrowing down the flavor choices will be a challenge. S’wich Social will offer about a dozen cookie options and 10 ice cream flavors.

Some early favorites in the cookie category include the Couch Potato, with chocolate chunks, caramel chips, pretzels, and potato chips, and the Party Animal, with M&Ms, Oreo pieces and confetti sprinkles. There are more traditional flavors, too, like Chocolate Chunk, Confetti Sugar and Snickerdoodle.

As for ice cream, the trio of classics make an appearance – Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry – and then there are flavors like Blue Moon, which Whited says tastes just like Fruit Loops. Also popular are the Kitty Kitty Bang Bang –  cheesecake ice cream with a raspberry ripple, Oreo cookies and chocolate chunks, and the Munchie Madness – cake batter ice cream with salted caramel, Oreos, M&M pieces and peanut butter cups.

S’Wich will have a rotating selection of two non-dairy vegan flavors and plans to roll out gluten-free and vegan cookies as well.

At 1,200 square feet, S’Wich Social is more of a grab-and-go experience, but will offer a few seats.

S’Wich Social is located at 869 N. Fourth St. The shop will be open Wednesday to Friday from 5 – 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 10 p.m.
