The Yard Milkshake Bar brings all the visitors to the Short North…
With flavors like Mint Green Monster, The Cereal Killer, Cookie Dough Delicious, S’mores, The Unicorn and more, The Yard and their massive milkshakes will make their Columbus debut at 1055 N. High St. this Friday, April 22.
Local franchisees Kelsey and Justin Harrington discovered the milkshake shop on a trip to Gulf Shores, AL in 2019 and immediately applied to open their own location in Columbus. The couple hadn’t see anything like it in the city and wanted to bring the experience to Central Ohio.
The first retail tenant of the Valencia on High building, Kelsey says the Short North provides the right vibe, right audience and right foot traffic for The Yard.
The shop’s Speciality Milkshakes are the main attraction, and made for eating on-site. Shakes are adorned in a bevy of toppings spilling out of the shop’s signature souvenir pint glasses. (And there’s a sink to wash your glass before taking it home.) There’s one Columbus-only special on the menu, The Buckeye, featuring brownie batter and honey roasted peanut butter ice cream, a drizzle of marshmallow and a chocolate and sprinkle rolled rim, all topped with whipped cream, more sprinkles and two buckeyes, which are Kelsey’s grandmother’s own recipe. (Don’t count the calories!)
There’s more. Specialties also come in sundae form. And there’s edible cookie dough. And dozens – literally – of flavors of ice cream and toppings. A few grab-and-go shakes and treats like cookie dough pops round things out.
The Yard’s hours are 12 – 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 12 – 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
