First Look: ZenCha Tea Salon on Gay Street

The new Downtown location for ZenCha Tea Salon has been a project four years in the making. And while they don’t have their opening date set just yet (still waiting on a few final inspections), it’s so close that you can almost taste it.

Yesterday evening, the new location was host to a preview party where guests could sample food and tea and take a look at the nearly finished space. The new ZenCha boasts some magnificent “big city” views of Gay Street through their large windowed wall that makes for a very vibrant and urban experience. Grabbing a table by the window is advised for the best people watching.

According to ZenCha Owner Jean Wu, the new location will feature a tea selection and menu very similar to the Short North salon. Once open, the cafe will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday to start. She said that the hours would likely be revised based on customer feedback.

To take a peek inside the new location, check out the photos below. We’ll share more information on the grand opening once the date is set.
