What’s New in Farmers Markets in Columbus This Year

The seasonal outdoor Farmers Markets in Columbus and surrounding neighborhoods are getting started. If you are looking to find fresh produce, handmade jams, and more goodies, here is a guide to farmers markets where you can support our local farmers. For 2022, the Clintonville Market returns to their outdoor home in Clintonville at their traditional location on North High Street at Dunedin Road, the Athens Farmers’ Market celebrates 50 years, and a new market starts in Italian Village.

“The farmers market is such a unique place to shop for food,” says Michelle White, Executive Director of Common Greens. “It’s a positive social space where you can connect with and support dozens of diverse local businesses, learn where your food comes from and how it was produced. And the fruits, flowers and veggies are as fresh as you can get without making a trip to the farm yourself.”

A new market will begin in May in the Jeffrey Park neighborhood in Italian Village. The 4th Street Market will be a farmers and makers market that will host over 30 vendors, and you’ll be able to enjoy coffee, or an adult beverage while you shop.

Many enjoy Farmers Markets for the produce, but many also find the connection to neighbors to be a key part of the experience.

“The experience of seeing your neighbors every Saturday morning and sharing a smile or a laugh or a cheese recommendation is the kind of connection we now value more than ever,” says Olivera Bratich, owner of Wild Cat Gift & Party in Clintonville.
