Tis’ the season for shopping, and once again we’re providing you with a variety of gift ideas to be found throughout Columbus this holiday season. Every Thursday over the past few weeks, we’ve provided you with a showcase of gift ideas at various stores. This final week, we’re focusing on some last-minute shopping ideas at a wide variety of stores around Columbus. Happy Holidays!

    1. Voda Emporium – Local Products for Everyone

This relatively new home goods store opened in Olde Towne East earlier this year and has quickly become a go-to shop for nearby residents as well as visitors from other neighborhoods. Owners Gary Wahlers and Ted Dyrdek pride themselves on offering as many local products as possible in their wide range of wares. In their shop at 81 Parsons Avenue, you’ll find aprons from AmyD, hot sauces from CaJohn and soy candles made by Ted himself.

    2. Tigertree – Happy Socks & World’s Largest Gummy Bear

If you still have multiple people left on your shopping list, then Tigertree is a great place to cross several off your list at once. Some of our favorite products currently listed on their website include their Happy Socks and the five-pound 12,600-calorie gummy bear. Additionally, Tigertree contains a range of clothing items for both men and women, sunglasses, gloves, watches, home goods and more. And if you want something really special, browse their collection of Maxine, Dear products for a unique hand-made item produced by store owners Josh & Niki Quinn.

More information can be found at www.shoptigertree.com.

    3. Paradise Garage – Biking Accessories

Paradise Garage recently relocated two doors down to a larger space at 921 North High Street, giving them room to expand their growing business. In addition to bikes, Paradise Garage carries a variety of bike accessories, parts, equipment and clothing, so that no matter what your shopping budget may be for the bike enthusiast on your shopping list, you can find something here in your price range.

    4. The Source by Wasserstrom – Kitchenware

The Source by Wasserstrom is a retail outlet inside the North Market that contains a range of professional quality kitchen goods at affordable prices. The product inventory changes regularly, so you’re likely to find some new glassware or chinaware here on every visit.

    5. Goodale Pro Hardware – Toboggans for Sledding!

If the forecast is correct, we should be getting some snow this weekend and into early next week… which means a perfect time to go sledding! Goodale Hardware just got in a shipment of two-seater toboggans that they’re selling for $14.99, a perfect way to spend a snowy afternoon with little kids or with big kids.

More information can be found at www.GoodaleHardware.com.

    6. Stinkybomb Soaps – Hand Grenade Soap!

Local entrepreneur Megan Green started up her soap company just a few short years ago, and her molded creations have quickly become a popular gift for someone looking for something out of the ordinary. In addition to hand grenades, other custom soap shapes include cassette tapes for music lovers, digital cameras for photographers and baby dolls heads for people who want to see a baby doll head staring at them while they’re in the shower!

    7. Pistacia Vera – Macarons, Macarons, Macarons

Truth be told, there’s not a bad item to be found inside of Pistacia Vera, but we consider ourselves to be most obsessed with their delightful macarons. Flavors include yuzu citrus, coffee, gingerbread, black raspberry, holiday mint and their signature pistachio. And at only $1.25 each, you can mix and match to make a great custom holiday gift.

    8. The Candle Lab – Candles!

With three locations in Central Ohio — Grandview, Worthington, and a new store in Powell — The Candle Lab is an easily accessible stop for your last minute holiday shopping needs. And with over 120 scents available — including Spiced Rum, Pomegranate, and even bacon — you’re likely to find something to please just about anyone.

    9. These are Things – Map of Columbus Neighborhoods

Ok, technically, you’re not going to be able to get one of these maps shipped in time for Christmas, but the recipient is likely to forgive you when they see how awesome this gift is. This neighborhood map was created and produced locally, and will look great hanging in a frame in just about any room of your house.

    10. Objects for the Home – Home Goods

Located at 3284 N. High Street, this new Clintonville shop features a mix of antique furniture and smaller home goods. Many of their products are also locally made, including jewelry items, wine bottle stoppers, stationary, eco-friendly bags, soaps, artwork and more.

    11. Zeroz – Minimalist Card-Carrying Wallet

Just yesterday we mentioned Zeroz and we’d be remiss not to mention them again as a last-minute shopping idea. The Zeroz wallet is definitely an item for the minimalist, as it serves to carry a small handful of credit cards and has an elastic strap for cash. The design is sleek and stylish, and could make a good holiday gift for someone looking to downsize the amount of junk they carry around in a regular wallet. You can swing by their retail shop at 17 E. Gay Street to check them out.
