The popular HorrorHound Weekend is coming to Columbus starting on Friday, March 23rd through the 25th at the Crown Plaza Columbus North. HorrorHound Weekend’s are organized by HorrorHound Magazine and unite horror fans with dozens of horror celebrities, vendors, and other horror themed acts in one central location. This marks HorrorHound’s first visit to the capital city as previous conventions have been held neighboring cities such Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati since 2007.
As with most conventions you can expect a lot of dealers selling horror themed toys, t-shirts, masks, art, autographs, books, and of course movies. That however is just a small portion of what is being offered this weekend; horror fans will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite horror stars and for a price grab their autographs. Celebrity guests at this event include blaxploitation star Pam Grier, Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), the original Leatherface Gunner Hansen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Pinhead himself Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Adreienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape from New York), Star Trek The Next Generation’s Denise Crosby, and Columbus favorite Fritz the Night Owl plus many more horror movie guests. Autographs are not free however; most will cost an additional $15-25 depending on the celebrity in question.
In addition to the vendors and celebrity autograph opportunities HorrorHound has numerous events scheduled throughout the weekend including film screenings, live performances, and discussion panels. Attendees of Rob Zombie’s Halloween, George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead, and From Beyond panels will be able to pose their questions to the stars during the live Q&A session. One of the premiere guests, Pam Grier will be on hand personally during the Pam Grier: The Baddest Woman in Cinema panel. Other events include a costume contest, Club Choas Dance Party, and a special appearance by Coney Island’s Rock ‘n Roll Road Show which specializes in its own special brand of burlesque entertainment.
Online pre-sale tickets are no longer available but tickets will be available at the door. A day pass will cost $20, a weekend pass is $45, and a Gold Pass will run you $100. The Gold Pass includes admission for all three days, early admittance to the vendor room , a 1 year subscription to HorrorHound Magazine, a special March 2012 HorrorHound issue, and special reserved seating for screenings.
