North Market’s Hot Chicken Takeover revealed plans for expansion, planning to add a second location in Clintonville and grow their corporate staff.

Owner Joe DeLoss originally launched HCT as a pop up in Olde Towne East, eventually scrounging up the funds to operate a food truck. A year ago they opened their North Market location while looking out for a permanent spot.

“We took careful consideration as to where we would go next,” DeLoss said. “Based on community-alignment, customer feedback, and 2016 market research, we identified Clintonville as our next location.”

Along with their popular menu, they tout their “community-minded approach” as the reason for their rapid success. According to an official statement, the expansion comes from the public’s appreciation of their Fair Chance employment strategy, providing “work opportunities for men and women with barriers to conventional employment.”

It also helps that they’ve had the help of Access Ventures, a private investment group from Louisville, Kentucky.

“One thing that attracted us to Hot Chicken Takeover was their focus on hustle,” said Bryce Butler, Access Ventures Managing Director, in a press release. “And it’s been impressive to see so many things come together in a short time—whether it is talent for the leadership team or real estate—they’ve always hit their timelines and targets. We’re excited to see the doors open on the new location this spring.”

HCT expansion is accompanied by Dilara Casey’s addition to the corporate team. Casey served as director of marketing and communications at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and has worked as a social media marketer for Tim Hortons.

“I’m jazzed to be a part of the Hot Chicken Takeover leadership team as we embark on this next phase of growth for the company,” Casey said. “There is just so much opportunity for HCT in the Columbus market and beyond. To say it’s an exciting time is an understatement.”

The new restaurant will occupy the space at 4203 N High Street. A grand opening date will be announced after construction starts.
