Dismal ’07 could lead to local-market rebirth

Local home sales declined for the second straight year in 2007, further evidence that the national real-estate crisis has touched central Ohio.
What’s going to happen in 2008? It depends on whether you believe in statistics or optimism.
“Interest rates are near 5.5 percent on a 30-year, fixed mortgage, and home prices are as competitive as they’ve ever been,” Hrabcak said. “Five years from now, I think people will say, ‘What was I thinking,’ with the type of selection, interest rates and competitive pricing that’s out there.”
