Back in August, we interviewed Jeni Britton Bauer and Charly Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, and they dropped a few hints about their first expansion outside of Central Ohio being somewhere in the Cleveland area. That expansion is now being made official with plans to open a scoop shop this Spring in Chagrin Falls, a suburb located roughly 35 minutes east of Downtown Cleveland.
The new store will be located at 67 N. Main Street in Chagrin Falls, and will feature all of the signature and seasonal flavors, sundaes and ice cream macaroons available in Jeni’s Central Ohio stores.
“Over the years, as we’ve created flavors by reaching out statewide to farmers to help us execute whatever idea we come up with, I’ve come to think of Ohio as one big city,” Britton Bauer said. “We could not be happier to become part of the Cleveland community and its dynamic food scene, which has been nothing but great to us.”
Jeni’s has already established a presence in the Cleveland area with pints available for sale at Miles Farmers Market, Nature’s Bin, Whole Foods, Pat O’Brien’s Fine Wines & Gourmet Foods and Constantino’s Market in addition to being on the menus of restaurants including The Greenhouse Tavern, Bar Cento and AMP 150.
“The attention we’ve received from people in Northeast Ohio has been really flattering,” Britton Bauer says. “Chagrin Falls, being such a beautiful, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, reflects the communities we’re a big part of in Columbus.”
