LBD takes place tomorrow night at Basil

LBD is an acronym for Little Black Dress, but two local ladies are also hoping it becomes shorthand for one of the most stylish parties in Columbus.

LBD kicks off at 11 p.m. Fri. Feb. 24 at Basil, located at 1124 N. High St. in the Short North. Drinks −including a signature cocktail made with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka and a splash of pineapple juice− will be served and DJs Cornelius Jackson and Bruni will be spinning until the party winds down at 2:30 a.m.

When Cristina Beavers interned in Milan last summer, she was able to experience the city’s nightlife first hand and walked away inspired. The women were dressed elegantly, the men looked clean and crisp.

“So I thought to myself, ‘Why can’t we have an upscale twist to our night lives here in Columbus?'” said Beavers. “I spoke to Allison Jayjack about this and she completely had the same vision.”

    And LBD was born.

Tickets cost $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased for $10 prior to the party at two Short North boutiques: Ladybird, owned by Jayjack and located at 716 N. High St., and Milk Bar, located at 765-A N. High St.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Dress for Success.

“Allison has teamed up with Dress for Success a few times and she came up with the idea to give a portion of the proceeds to them,” Beavers said. “We think it is important to give back to women that want to be successful and better their lives. We hope to do more work with the organization.”

Partygoers in the market for new attire should note that they can receive 20 percent off all little black dresses this week at Ladybird with the purchase of an LBD ticket.

However, that’s not to imply that LBD is just for women.

“We hope everyone comes out to enjoy this fashionable night out!” Beavers said, adding that she and Jayjack hope to make LBD a recurring event.
