Video games. TV Shows. Movies. These three things make up the core trifecta of our digital entertainment world, and are the three legs of the stool to our Trailer Roundup series each week. Let’s take a look at what’s new, what’s upcoming, and what may or may not be worth your time and money in the near future:
Super Mario Run
The biggest video game news of the past week was the announcement that Nintendo is launching their first Mario title on the iPhone with Super Mario Run. The classic 2D platformer is transformed into a simple auto-running that has elements of WiiU hit Mario Maker built in. Get ready to run in December.
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon
If you’re growing tired of the repetitiveness and simplicity of Pokémon Go, then maybe you’re ready to grab one of the next full featured titles known as Sun and Moon on the Nintendo 3DS. The game features a new day/night cycle depending on which one your playing, and many classic pokemon get new evolution types and upgrades to tie the old with the new. Available on November 18th.
The Young Pope
New TV miniseries The Young Pope follows the fictional story of a newly elected Pope that’s not quite as pious as everyone would expect. Watch Jude Law do a great Frank Underwood impression in the trailer and get ready for the show’s debut on October 21.
The Promise
If you don’t recall the specifics of the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Armenian Genocide from history class, director Terry George invites you to revisit the era with Christian Bale and Oscar Issac. There’s no release date set for this one yet, outside of “2016”.
Playstation 4 PRO
Sony announced their new console update last week: The Playstation 4 Pro. The new version supports higher quality graphics (4K resolution and High Dynamic Range) than its previous counterpart. The system hits store shelves on November 10th.

The Siege of Jadotville
Speaking of history class, if the Siege of Jadotville doesn’t ring, it’s because according to this new trailer, it’s an “untold” true story. The film is based on the real life events of Irish United Nations peacekeepers that faced a stand off with the Katangese and their mercenaries in the Congo in the 1960s. The film will hit theaters on September 19th and streams on Netflix on October 7th.
Free Fire
Ever wondered what a Mexican Standoff would look like if stretched out into a full feature film? That appears to be the premises of British film Free Fire, which pits two gangs of 70s-era criminals in a face off after a weapons purchase deal goes bad. No US release date has been announced yet, but it’s coming to UK cinemas in March 2017.

GOAT
New film GOAT has been described as Full Metal Jacket meets Animal House. It follows the story of young fraternity recruits and the hazing process they must endure. While the subject matter is typically reserved for broad comedies, GOAT looks to be a bit darker and more uncomfortable to watch. Hits theaters on September 23.
