    Momo Ghar Shutters Dublin Restaurant

After just shy of a year, Momo Ghar has closed its standalone restaurant in Dublin, 2800 Festival Lane.

“Sadly we have closed our Dublin location for good,” Owner Phuntso Lama said. “We do not have any plans to reopen any other [locations] for the foreseeable future.”

After gaining an immense following from stalls at Saraga Market and North Market Downtown, the momo maker branched out on its own in January of 2021. Opening in the middle of a pandemic would prove difficult to overcome as a temporary closure that began in late December became permanent.

“Opening in 2021 was challenging enough but everything else made it even more difficult; worker shortage, inflation, etc.” Lama said. (COVID also brought the end of their original location at Saraga in 2020.)

Lama said not receiving a second PPP loan or money from the Restaurant Revitalization Fund were also challenging for the business.

There’s still one spot to score Momo Ghar’s storied eats. Lama will turn her focus to the North Market Downtown location, 59 Spruce St., which remains open.
