The German Village Society’s annual Oktoberfest is less than a month away, and organizers are hard at work adjusting to both a venue change and a new date.

In a change from previous years, the upcoming Oktoberfest will be held in early September rather than its traditional later start. In addition, for the third consecutive year the German centric event will move locations.

Oktoberfest will take place Sept.5-7 at Genoa Park and Amphitheater, between the banks of Scioto River and COSI. It will run from 5 p.m. to midnight on Sept. 5, noon to midnight Sept. 6 and noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 7.

Society trustee Bill Curlis is this year’s Oktoberfest Committee chair. He said the most important change is the venue.
