Work is underway on a new event venue in Italian Village. A recently-vacant building just north of the Columbus Electrical Works at 777 N. Fourth St. will find new life as the Edison.

It’s the latest addition to the BTTS Holdings portfolio, which also operates Brookshire in Lewis Center, WatersEdge in Hilliard, The Estate in New Albany and the newly-opened FIG Room in Short North.

An industrial building constructed in the early 1900s, BTTS aims to maintain the building’s historic charm through exposed brick, high ceilings, and arched windows. The space will also feature a custom, built-in bar with a reclaimed wood bar front, as well as a new mezzanine at the front of the building. A grassy space to the north of the venue will be transformed into an outdoor courtyard.

“Edison will combine a modern, urban vibe with the same first-class events experience we offer across the BTTS family of venues,” said John A. Brooks, managing partner, BTTS Holdings. “We immediately saw the potential in this space for creating unforgettable, beautiful events and are excited to join the rich fabric of the neighborhood, as part of the latest Lykens Companies project.”

Lykens Companies purchased the Electrical Works Buildings in 2015 and received Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits for the development in 2018. It’s one of a number of projects Lykens Companies has developed along the Fourth Street Corridor through Italian Village.

BTTS is aiming for a June 2021 openings for Edison. The venue can host up to 200 guests, or 175 with a dance floor. They’ll aim not just for weddings, but other events like corporate outings, bridal and baby showers, nonprofit galas and more.

“Edison’s intimate size, natural light and warm design will welcome you and your guests.” said Lisa Sullivan, director of the venue. “One of the best parts of our jobs as event operators is helping clients celebrate life’s most treasured events, and we can’t wait to do that at Edison.”
