A taste of Cuba is coming to North Market Bridge Park. Inspired by the home-cooked meals of his mother and grandmother, Owner Pablo Taura will bring Pablo’s Havana Café to the Market later this fall. (Update, the cafe has opened! 11/9/22).
It will be the second location for Pablo’s, which opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 9685 Sawmill Rd. in Powell in 2018.
“I decided to take a chance and bring the diversity of the Cuban cuisine to Powell, and now I am excited to work with North Market Bridge Park to further expand our operation,” Taura says. “I cannot wait to share my family’s recipes with the Bridge Park and wider Dublin communities!”
The star of the show will be the cafe’s signature sandwich – the “El Cubano,” crafted with Cuban bread, fresh roasted pork, honey ham, Swiss cheese, sliced pickles and mustard. Tostones, croquetas, empanadas, homemade soups and salads, plus traditional Cuban desserts round out the menu.
“As a huge fan of Cuban cuisine and after meeting Pablo, I knew he would make a wonderful addition to the North Market community,” says North Market Executive Director & CEO Rick Harrison Wolfe. “His food is authentic, comforting, and above all delicious. I’m delighted to welcome Pablo’s Havana Café to the Market family!”
Pablo’s will occupy the space originally home to Black Radish Creamery. A revamp of the space is slated to begin in the coming weeks with a targeted opening date of later this fall.
Black Radish is one of four initial vendors that have left North Market at Bridge Park since it opened in late 2020. Reuse Revolution ceased operations at the end of July, followed by Kintsugi Sushi Bar’s closure near the end of August. Most recently, The Little Kitchen closed up shop at the end of September.
