The 2016 edition on Blitzmas barged its way into Express Live! on Thursday night as the last of the season’s radio Christmas shows brought four bands to town to festively yell at microphones, batter some drums and swing around guitars while a sold-out crowd wildly raised their hands in salute to those that certainly came to rock at Christmas.

Detroit’s Citizen Zero opened the show with a half-hour of arena-ready alt-rock, before hard rock veterans and crowd favourites Bobaflex conquered the crowd with a well developed blend of Sabbath-metal and leather jackets.

Red Sun Rising returned for another Blitzmas slot and again filled the room with their massive sounding radio-friendly guitar-rock, and shortly after 10:15pm Michigan alt-metal band Pop Evil closed out the show with a red hot headlining set before sending the late hour crowd outside into a freezing cold winters evening.
