It was another disappointing match at Lower.com Field as poor finishing and wasted chances saw Columbus Crew fall 0-2 to Orlando City SC on Saturday evening.
The Crew were looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, but Orlando had an agenda of their own and with 10 minutes left in the first half, Rodrigo Schlegel narrowly kept himself onside to tap the ball past Eloy Room in the Crew goal.
Ercan Kara doubled the lead early in the second half as the cracks in the Crew game plan started to show and the home town crowd began to make their feelings known.
A triple substitution quickly followed, yet even the introduction of a second striker in Gyasi Zardes couldn’t break the Orlando defense and they sat back and allowed the home team to pass the ball from side to side while occasionally forcing a save from Pedro Gallese in the Orlando goal.
Three defeats in a row puts Columbus down to tenth place with a trip to Sporting KC coming up next Saturday evening.
