Aiden Morris capped off an impressive two-game home winning stand with his first MLS brace as Columbus Crew swept away the visiting Real Salt Lake 4-0 at Lower.com Field on Saturday evening.
The Crew were able to welcome Lucas Zelarayan and Milos Degenek back to starting line-up after international duty, however, first choice ‘keeper Eloy Room wasn’t able to play and Patrick Schulte once again played between the posts and managed to keep a clean sheet against a fairly lackluster RSL attack.
Morris picked up his first goal early on after a delightful back flick from Zelarayan teed up the Crew midfielder to powerfully drive the ball beyond Gavin Beavers in the Salt Lake goal.
A Zelarayan penalty doubled the Crew lead shortly before the break and Morris put the game well out of sight within 10 minutes of the restart.
Yaw Yaboah added salt to the wounds in the third minute of injury time to put the icing on an emphatic win.
Next up comes a road trip to D.C. United before returning to LDC on April 15 to face off against Charlotte.
