Electro, upbeat, queer-pop three-piece Muna kicked off their most recent tour over the weekend in a Lollapalooza-engulfed Chicago and continued Tuesday evening with a stop on the Newport Music Hall stage.
Formed back in 2013, the band is currently riding high on the back of their recently released self-titled third album, the first to be released on Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records, that’s already spawned a handful of singles to a wave of critical praise for the band’s loud-and-proud celebration of openness and the welcoming space they’ve created for their fans through their positive music.
American singer-songwriter Jensen McRae started the evening off with low-key yet powerful set of solo acoustic tales of love, heartbreak and vaccinations.
