REWILD Yoga Opens With Lush, Jungle Feel

“It has been a long time coming, but this is very good,” says Steve Kocsis, owner, on the opening of REWILD Yoga. REWILD Yoga recently opened at 995 West 5th Avenue in the View on Fifth development.

“It is even better than I hoped it would be,” says Kocsis.

Featuring an amazing interior design by Nick Evans, REWILD Yoga is the newest hot yoga studio in Columbus, Ohio. This yoga studio is a very pleasing blend of modern materials, reclaimed wood, and heat. In keeping with the theme of re-wilding, the space suggests a primitive sweat lodge where a jungle of plants is growing.

“I can’t wait to practice there!” says Tiffany Dollins, coordinator of sloth yoga and other yoga programming at the Columbus Zoo.

On the temperature side of things, REWILD is HOT! Classes that I attended were in the high 80’s at the start of class, so you are very likely to get a serious sweat here. With radiant heat panels in the ceiling and heated floors throughout the studio, you will feel the heat and your feet will be pleasantly warm. Free covered parking is available in the nearby garage, entered on the East side of the building from Norton.

REWILD Yoga joins other health-centered businesses on the Fifth Avenue corridor such as Orange Theory, Waxxpot, and Elevate Cryotherapy.

“I am very grateful to Sarah at Orange Theory for her support here,” notes Kocsis. “She was very friendly about us.”

Not since Rebecca Morosky Hoffman opened the official Bikram yoga studio in Columbus, has there been so much buzz about a new yoga hot yoga studio here.

“I have been looking forward to this for so long,” notes Orange Theory instructor and local yoga teacher Catherine Salin Derrow who recently appeared on J Brown Yoga

Kocsis became serious about doing yoga after being inspired by Tami Schneider and Parker Bean of Cleveland Yoga. Kocsis attended several yoga teacher trainings including an immersive Baron Baptiste Power Yoga training in Thailand. Baron Baptiste is known for a yoga program building both mental and physical strength.

“Community is all important,” says Kocsis. “Everything here is to connect people with themselves and others, it is not just about the yoga.”

REWILD Yoga is located at 995 West 5th Avenue in the View on Fifth development. REWILD uses GloFox for scheduling.
