Mix 97.1 being replaced with The Fan

Just got an email informing me that “Mix 97.1 here is done.” The source goes on to say that they’ve heard the Dispatch-owned station (WBNS-FM) will go off the air completely and that the replacement will be the Dispatch-owned WBNS-AM broadcast known as “The Fan” (1460 AM).

I’m still working on confirming this as more than just a rumor, but details are pretty scarce at the moment. Has anyone else heard anything?

(Update 1:35PM – We’ve got several more people confirming that the old staff has been let go, and a press release posted in the comments section. Looks like it’s pretty safe to say this is not a rumor”.)
