    See a Movie Outside This Summer

    It’s probably one of the best things to do during the summer. Enjoy the cool evenings and hang out on a blanket with some snacks and watch a movie on the big screen outside. You’re in luck because there are quite a few outdoor movies happening – Italian Village Society is doing one tonight, and you can also see movies at the Ohio Statehouse, Goodale Park, the Wexner Center, Zoombezi Bay, the Scioto Mile and more. Read on to see the full schedule and if you like Despicable Me, you are in luck!

    The Italian Village Society is showing My Man Godfrey on Friday, June 10 (tonight!) at 8pm. Showing is rain or shine, cartoons before the show, admission is free, concessions available. Location is Italian Village Park at Kerr and Hubbard. Need more details? Visit their website.

    Wex Drive-In at the Wexner Center Plaza, 15th Avenue and High Street on the campus of The Ohio State University. All Drive-In movies start at dusk (generally around 9 pm); filmgoers are welcome to come starting at 8 pm to secure a spot and enjoy free Pam’s Market Popcorn, Asian and American food from an on-site food cart, and reduced-priced Jeni’s Ice Cream (a free scoop is available to members), plus a cash bar. The movies will be shown on film (not DVD) and include: June 16 is Lost in Translation. July 21 is Battle in Outer Space. August 18 is Howl’s Moving Castle. View full details of the series. Ohio State’s East Asian Studies Center, which will gather donations for disaster relief in Japan at the Wex Drive-in events.     The Ohio Statehouse will be showing Glory at dusk (approximately 9pm). The movie follows a vintage baseball game at 7pm between members of the Ohio General Assembly and the Ohio Village Muffins. Both events are free to attend. There will be concessions available by Milo’s Catering and Banquet Service as well as a cash bar. Get more information here.

    Movies in Goodale Park, 3rd Annual Screen on the Green. Series put on by the Short North Civic Association. Held in the softball diamond in southwest corner of the park. The three movies include: July 22 is Airplane! August 19 is Rear Window. September 16 is The Goonies. Movies begin at sundown and will be preceded by a half hour of cartoons.     The Clintonville Rotary is hosting Movies in the Park at Whetstone Park in the lower fields. Movies start at dusk, approximately 8:45pm and is free. July 9 is Despicable Me and July 23 is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. More info can be found here.

    The Scioto Mile, Movies on the Mile. Held in Bicentennial Park. Free. Concessions begin at 7pm. Movies shows at dusk. July 9 is Despicable Me. July 15 is E.T. July 29 is The Pink Panther. August 5 is Inception. August 19 is Toy Story 3. More info here.

    Columbus Commons. Movies + Music, Saturdays, 7pm -11pm. Come to the Commons with blankets and chairs in-hand to sprawl out on the Grand Lawn and enjoy a free summer of cinema at the Columbus Commons. Enjoy musical (or magical) entertainment starting at 7pm, followed by a movie at 9pm. June 18 is Movies + Music: 6 Panel Driver (7pm), The Goonies (9pm). June 25 is Movies + Magic: Magician (7pm), Shrek Forever After (9pm). July 30 is Movies + Music (80’s Night): Contagious Til 4 (7pm), Back to the Future (9pm). August 6 is Movies + Music: Musical Entertainment TBD (7pm), Grease (9pm). More info here.

    Dive-in Movies at Zoombezi Bay. Concessions available. Free with admission to the park. Movies begin at 9pm. July 15 is Shrek. July 22 is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.     Easton’s Movies by Moonlight Series. Happens each Tuesday at dusk (approx 8:30) from July 5 to August 30. Location is the Town Square. Movies: July 5 is Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. July 12 is Despicable Me. July 19 is Ghostbusters. July 26 is My Big Fat Greek Wedding. August 2 is Enchanted. August 9 is Gnomeo & Juliet. August 16 is Wall-E. August 23 is Raiders of the Lost Ark.     Upper Arlington’s Movie in the Park series. These are held at different locations. All start at dusk (approx 9pm). Free. Rain date is the following evening. June 24 is How to Train Your Dragon at Sunny 95 Park. July 8 is The Legend of the Guardians at Thompson Park. July 21 is The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader at Thompson Park. July 29 is Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey! at Mountview Baptist Church. August 12 is Toy Story 3 at Thompson Park. More info here.

    Movie Events in Gahanna. 2nd and 4th Fridays until August 26. Creekside (9pm and Free) will show: June 24 is Jurassic Park. July 22 is Footloose. August 26 is Aladdin. Dive In Movies (8:30pm, $5) at Hunters Ridge Pool will show: June 10 is The Goonies. July 8 is Despicable Me. August 12 is Toy Story 3. More info here.

    And if you want a more traditional Drive-In, head to the South Drive-in Theater at 3050 South High. Admission is $8 per adult and $1 for children under the age of 12. Movies usually change on Fridays.
