The City of Columbus will be celebrating its 199th Birthday in 2011, and the Columbus Historical Society is throwing a party on February 18th. This party includes the recognition of several “Sullivant Gift Award” winners, who are individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the city. These contributions echo the spirit of Central Ohio pioneer Lucas Sullivant, who gave away plots of land in Franklinton as gifts to encourage urban development.
Columbus Underground has been tapped once again with the duty of seeking out nominations for the second annual “Arch Award”, which will recognize one up-and-coming individual who is working hard towards making modern day history in Columbus and bettering the city for tomorrow.
The “Arch Award” not only symbolizes the crossing of a generational span, but also pays homage to the old “Arch City” nickname for Columbus.
This year’s award will be presented by last year’s winner, Michael Wilkos.
If you have a nomination for this award, please submit the person’s name, and contact information to [email protected]. The cutoff time for submissions is Monday, January 31st at 11:59pm.
